New Member Spotlight on Certa Service / Adventys

Certa Service / Adventys joined the FEA this December and MD Dan Loria kindly told us more about who they are and why they decided to become a member. 

Tell us about how your business got started.
Having worked in various positions within the hospitality equipment industry for over 20 years, I committed to creating a service and maintenance company that offered high-quality, reliable service and truly understood the pressures of the modern commercial kitchen. In 2017, I set up Certa Service from a small office in Hertfordshire with one part-time engineer and got to work. The rest, as they say, is history.

What do you love most about the foodservice equipment industry?
The fast-paced nature of the business appeals to me. No two days are the same; you need to be flexible and think on your feet. The rate never lets up; that sense of urgency has always appealed to me. We are investing in the establishments we work with, and I take enormous pride in the close relationships we have built over the years. Nothing beats the feeling of a satisfied customer recommending us.

What is the biggest challenge for your business right now?
Engineer recruitment, without a doubt. We need to hire engineers of the right calibre to continue delivering our high service level. Finding candidates with the correct professional skills remains a struggle. 2024 will see us increase our trainee provision to ensure that we are helping to produce engineers who are an asset to the industry and have the skillset required to futureproof our business.

What are the drawing factors for joining FEA?
To have a say in the way our industry develops. As a young business, we are happy to step away from the preconceived ideas of how service happens and are always looking to learn from and engage with our industry partners. Joining the FEA will enable increased engagement with our peers to help work for a better future for our industry.

Anything else you’d like to add?
As well as our service and maintenance offering, we are UK distributors for Adventys induction cooking equipment. As long-time advocates of sustainability, induction equipment fits perfectly with our ethos. Our close relationship with Adventys HQ in France allows us to offer the latest innovative induction products that sit perfectly with our shared values of quality, reliability and efficiency.
