FELIX’S TABLE

A pop-up restaurant with a great impact

Food poverty is at our doorstep

Costs are rising, and the first things people cut back is food and the hours they keep the heating on. 400,000 children in London are already going hungry every day, and 41% of adults earning less than £20,000 a year skip meals to feed their children.

Social eating coming to Haymarket, in central London.

The team at The Felix Project require some assistance with equipment for the new eating space, to that end if FEA members can assist in the sourcing of equipment from the following list:

Please note presently only electrical equipment can be used.

  • Induction hobs 6
  • Electric grill and/or Plancha
  • Thermo mix
  • Food processors
  • Hand blenders, large and small
  • Pots and pans suitable for induction
  • Bowl and containers with lids
  • Gastro's 1/1
  • All smaller utensils, whisks, tongues etc
  • Knives and coloured chopping boards
  • Hot holding lights

Felix’s Table

Felix’s Table is a new pop-up restaurant run by The Felix Project, London’s biggest surplus food redistribution charity.

Felix’s Table makes a difference for people and the planet. We rescue surplus food at risk of going to waste and create delicious meals from a pop-up restaurant in central London. During the day, we offer lunches to Londoners who might go without food otherwise. In the evening, paying guests having dinner in the same space fund the meals for the following day, so we can keep our food free for those who can’t afford it, in a virtuous circular model.

At our core, we are entrepreneurial and make an impact:

  • At lunchtime, we operate a referral scheme in partnership with some of the 1,000 community organisations we work with across London. During the coldest winter months, we provide a safe, warm and welcoming space where people at risk of going hungry can get a hot, delicious and nutritious meal for free without the stigma of accessing a food bank. Nothing says we care like shared food.
  • Throughout the day, we encourage people who can afford to pay to sponsor a meal with a generosity model. We call it pay-it-forward, and it is what makes our model ethically and financially sustainable.
  • Supper clubs and private events in the evening targeting a better-off audience raise the profile of The Felix Project, as well as generating much-needed funds so we can keep our food free for those in need.

Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.

Felix's Table operations in a nutshell

  • Open at lunchtime to community organisations’ users through a referral scheme and paying general public
  • In the evening, open for dinners, supper clubs and private events, raising the funds needed to sponsor the free meals the following day;
  • Social impact reached together with partner community organisations through a referral scheme, with high safeguarding procedures at all steps.
