FEA Trees for Cities initiative wins prestigious sustainability award
Memcom judges praise FEA member engagement
FEA won the Best Sustainability Initiative for 2021 in the Memcom Excellence Awards. FEA’s campaign linked with environmental charity Trees for Cities, and was designed to provide foodservice equipment suppliers with the platform to offset their carbon footprint.
Memcom is the community that connects trade associations, such as FEA, charities and other membership organisations. With categories covering areas such as marketing, engagement, digital and people, Memcom’s awards attract entries from a wide variety of sectors.
Other 2021 winners included the Royal Town Planning Institute, for the best integrated marketing, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, for best members engagement strategy, and the Royal Society of Chemistry, for best social media campaign.
FEA chair Stephen Hobbs was delighted with the win. “These are influential and prestigious awards and competition is intense,” he said. “To be selected by the judges underlines the success of the campaign, and we are very grateful to all the members who have supported it. Trees for Cities is a fantastic charity that is greening our urban spaces – so it’s good for both the planet and people’s wellbeing.”
Commenting on FEA’s win, the judges said they “saw clear aims and targets which seem reasonable and clearly on track. Member engagement seems high with members, contributing to the target and they are on track for success!”
FEA’s Trees for Cities campaign is continuing in 2022, and this year also sees the introduction of FEA Planting Days where members can work together planting trees at various locations across the UK.
