Tabletop Trends: Three top tableware trends for 2026

Three top tableware trends for 2026

2026 looks set to see tableware trends continue to build on the themes of the last few years, with operators continuing to value practicality, versatility and styles that can fit in with a diverse range of uses.

Earth tones and natural forms

Earthy tones and styles will be one of the big wants in the tableware space this year. Pantone’s choice of colour of the year for 2026 reflects this. Cloud Dancer is a subtle off-white with hints of grey, effortlessly combining classic style with modernity that is equally at home in a variety of different contexts.

Terracotta, beige, stone colours and greys are all set to remain popular choices for tableware, along with blue and green. On-trend natural, handmade textures and individually finished glazes create a visually appealing display for meals.

The fashion for tapas style sharing meals is also driving demand for larger pieces. Irregular or unusual shapes and textures help to create standout serves that can work with different menus.

Metalware

Oven-to-table cookware is also increasingly popular for shared serves, with demand for cast iron fry pans or casserole dishes set to remain a popular way to add a touch of authenticity to the table. Enamelware is another growing trend, combining traditional styles with practicality it’s ideal for relaxed settings.

Sustainability

Sustainability is one of the key trends driving tableware purchases. The shift away from single use items and the need to control operating costs is increasing demand for sturdy equipment that can withstand heavy use and reduces the need for replacement. This can be seen with the trend for metal serveware, as well as the steady demand for versatile, functional designs. Stackable and dishwasher safe tableware can also help with staffing pressures, as they require less individual handling and cleaning, saving staff time.
